We honour and respect the privacy of our users and are committed to protecting it. Quero Toolbar and its associated Web site (quero.at) avoid collecting personal identifiable information whenever possible. Quero Toolbar never transmits any collected data to the software publisher nor to third parties and never connects to the publisher's Web site, not even for software updates. (Update 2007/03/02: The same applies for the Quero Launcher.) This statement describes the privacy policy of both the toolbar and the Web site.

Collection of your Personal Information

For your convenience Quero Toolbar maintains a history of your previous searches and visited URLs. The number of history entries is limited and when space becomes short, the least recently used entry is automatically purged. The complete history is solely stored on your computer.

The Web site may collect certain information about your visit, such as the name of the pages you have visited, the IP address through which you access the Internet, date and time when you accessed the site and the internet address of the Web site from which you linked directly to our site (referrer link).

Use of your Personal Information

The information collected by Quero Toolbar is solely used to offer you the history functionality.

The information collected by the Web site will be used to operate and improve the site based on usage statistics.

Control of your Personal Information

Quero Toolbar includes a function ("Clear History") which let you purge the collected data associated with your user account from your computer. You may also uninstall the software which will remove the plug-in and any collected information from your account.

The personal information collected by the Web site will not be shared without your permission.

Access of your Personal Information

Quero Toolbar stores all information in the Windows registry under the key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Quero Toolbar].
Update 2008/05/28: Under Windows Vista Quero stores its settings under the key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AppDataLow\Software\Quero Toolbar].
Update 2013/07/18: Under Windows 8 Quero stores its settings under the key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\InternetRegistry\Software\Quero Toolbar].

Hence the information gathered by our Web site is stored on our servers, you have no direct access to it. But be assured that we will not share any personal information we may have collected without your explicit permission.

Security of your Personal Information

Quero Toolbar uses the Windows registry to secure your personal information. Newer versions of Windows limit the access to the registry, so that other users who have an account on your computer cannot access your personal search history. Nevertheless please keep in mind that you are responsible to protect your computer against malicious software and physical security threats.

To protect our Web servers we use a variety of technologies to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access.

Changes to this Statement

We may occasionally update this privacy statement. We encourage you to revisit this page whenever a new version of Quero Toolbar is released. More significant changes to this statement will be announced in the news section of Quero’s home page.
